We have WiMAX BTS in our network, in which there are two control cards for the purpose of redundancy in 1+1 configuration. The back haul from the BTS to the ASN gateway is through these control cards i.e., 2 links are extended.
Now when card fails, we expect the other card to take over seamlessly, without the sessions of the wimax subscriber breaking. However it doesnt happen so. It takes between 2 to 5 minutes for the second card to take over, and we feel the BTS is virtually rebooting. The vendor says that (i) in ip based bts we cannot have seamless switch over and (ii) being TDD mode also we cannot switch over.
Can anyone enlighten whether what is being said by the vendor is correct. How is it in ip based 3G , BTS?
