PTC’s annual conference, Asia-Pacific’s event for the global telecommunications industry held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Hawaii, has concluded for another year. NewSat attended the 15-18 January conference with both CEO Adrian Ballintine and CTO David Ball participating on panels.
NewSat’s CEO, Adrian Ballintine presented during the “Next Wave in the Asian Market” session, providing the conference with insight, as a soon-to-be satellite operator, into what he has learnt through his experience in the satellite industry and how his learnings have shaped the way NewSat operates in the satellite industry. Adrian joined panellists from the Asia-Pacific region and discussed how in order to join the niche ranks of satellite operators, one needs to fill a need. Adrian explained that Jabiru-1, NewSat first satellite, will focus on fulfilling the specialised needs of the resources and government industries. Adrian outlined that the Jabiru Satellite Program will deliver “new” capacity to new and emerging markets, Asia being one, and innovate through Ka-band and delivery of customised customer services.
NewSat’s Chief Technology Officer, David Ball, joined the panel for “New Ideas in Satellite for Asia: A Special Industry Think Tank and Workshop”. In an open discussion David provided insights into NewSat’s 2011 year of transformations and how NewSat is leveraging its services and capabilities. David explained that by growing NewSat’s core Teleport business and conquering the challenges of finding capacity by launching a fleet of satellites, will provide “new” capacity for NewSat customers. David outlined that meeting customer demands for high bandwidth applications through innovative applications and raw capacity will be Jabiru-1’s focus.
