Class B phones

When I was doing the testing I have come across the following scenario
When I am browsing through Web, I am able to get the incoming call notification [I made a call from my phone to the test phone]
But when I am downloading a MIDlet from the web I am not able to get the notification
And what I get on my phone is that the "Number which u r trying to call is out of coverage area"

What my doubt is that 
1)Even if i am browsing or downloading from Web ,In effect isn't the both same?
2)In effect aren't I engaged in GPRS connection in both cases?That means I shouldn't get a notification in both cases?

Hi ramya,

The channel used for GPRS and the voice calls are the same. So whenever there is an
incoming call, or u try to make o/g call, the GPRS connection is temperorily paused and it is
resumed once the call is finished.
I have seen the same thing happening while downloading any files, but I think the file that is in progress
will be restarted from the starting once the GPRS is resumed.
May be others in the forum who had seen the problem you are facing could give a better answer.
Btw, can  you provide more details about the kind of file you are downloading..

ok,
A possible reason is, the network resources.

Here is a quote from some other forum post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=51814

"GPRS can use 1, 2 or 4 data slots depending how busy the cells (towers) are in your area. If you happen to be using 4 slots and you get a call the call will not get through, if you're only using 1 or 2 slots then your call can get through... "

May be while downloading the file, more slots are getting used?

Are you sure, while browsing (during download of the page), are you able to get the
incoming call notification?
