Difference between Roaming links and Normal links.

Hi Friends,I'm a newbee to the telecom space.Anybody please help me in the following regard.When ever an MS is trying to latch on to a VPLMN, an LU message is sent from VLR of VPLMN to the HLR of HPLMN of MS, right !Some where I have read like -- If VPLMN is operated by any other operator than the operator of HPLMN, then this LU message will be sent via roaming links; and- If VPLMN is operated by the same operator as that of HPLMN, then this LU message will be sent via normal links.Could any body please tell me whether it is true and differenciate Roaming links and Normal links. Thanks in advance,J. where did you get this

where did you get this sentence : "if  VPLMN is operated by any other operator than the operator of HPLMN, then this LU message will be sent via roaming links; and- If VPLMN is operated by the same operator as that of HPLMN, then this LU message will be sent via normal links" what is the meaning of "VPLMN is operated by other operator"? your question is confusing :)

Dear thyraell, Thank you for responding :)Suppose that a subscriber is registerd to vodaphone in a state X and he goes to other state Y.suppose that in state Y there are vodafone and tata-docomo. In state Y, tata-docomo is the VPLMN operated by other operator and vodafone is VPLMN operated by same operator.Please correct if my understanding is not correct?Now we have two scenarios.              1. Subscriber is latching on to tata-docomo; in this case, LU request comes to HLR of vodafone in state X from the VLR of tata-docomo in state Y.              2. Subscriber tries to latch on to vodafone in state Y, the LU request comes from VLR of vodafone in state Y to HLR of vodafone in state X.              Now my doubt is that, is there any difference between the routing of the two LU requests?              Please clarify this doubt.               Thanks in advance :)

which one is the right situation? please choose 1 or 2 :-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     1. A is subscriber of Vodafone Italy, he goes to India and there are 2 operators : Vodafone Tamilnadu and Tata-Docomo.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     2. A is subscriber of Vodafone Mumbai, he goes to tamilnadu and there are 2 operators : Vodafone Tamilnadu and Tata-Docomo. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------    if you choose no 2, then i can't answer your question since in my country there is no national roaming, i have no experience about that.
