Hi All,

Whats the  lenght of the SMS message in CDMA networks?
(like it is 160 chars in GSM based systems.)

I heard it is not fixed like in GSM.
It depends on the other parameters in the ptotocol message as well.
I dont know the exact details though.

It is fixed as GSM. It is also 160 character on CDMA.

Hi sorry for the delayed response
there no fixed length for user data in CDMA like GSM
ie it is variable
for more details go through IS-637.pdfie cs0015 specs

The short length available for SMS against its relative cost is cited as one of the reasons for the decline in SMS that has started. SMS use appears to have peaked in many countries in late 2010 / early 2011

I didn't know there was a difference. I've read recently (don't have the link) that more businesses are going to OTT and moving away from SMS.
