MSRN to IMSI/MSISDN/TMSI

Hello,
This is my first post here. I just had a little question.

Can I query the VLR with the MSRN to get the IMSI, TMSI or MSISDN?? I am curious to know whether there is some message(s) that can do this task.

Thanks in advance..

rad
It might be possible, but

It might be possible, but usually a pool of MSRN is used.. so you have to be sure that the MSRN has not been reused for another subscriber...

Thanks, but

Thanks for the reply but can you give the details of the required operations?

Not possible

I think this is not possible because MSRN is allocated temporarily(momentorily) so MSC/VLR will not be able to identify the IMSI/TMSI or MSISDN based on MSRN.

MSRN

MSRN list is pool of numbers which is allocated to a particular number for specific time .... n after acm it got deattach from that particular MSISDN number .

so its time specific .... if u know which time n which msrn is allocated may b u can get MSISDN number or IMSI .

MSRN

hi All,

When GMSC sends a MAP message to HLR then HLR has information the enables you to map the MSISDN-IMSI to find out the that the where is the subscriber resides currently in VLR, then HLR send map message to VLR which contain IMSI then VLR gets MSRN (temporary routing number) from the pool of MSRN and returns back that MSRN to HLR and HLR to GMSC.

if there is something wrong then reply me...

TELECON
MSC analyses called number

MSC analyses called number contained in set up message and determines whether it is MSISDN/MSRN/PSTN as defined in called number analysis tables.
If it is MSISDN, it uses MSISDN number to querry HLR in which the number is defined (SCCPGT; MSISDN->HLR) and sends a Send Routing Information (SRI) message to the HLR. The message contains IMSI/TMSI of the called number.
Since VLR contains IMSI-MSRN mapping, HLR will send a Provide Roaming Number (PRN) request to VLR serving the called number.
The VLR will allocate an MSRN and respond to the message with PRN Acknowledgement
Now that HLR knows the MSRN, it replies to SRI Request earlier sent by the MSC.
The MSC now can use the MSRN in selecting outgoing route strategy for that call i.e if paging, or sending IAM depending on whether the MSRN is local or from another MSC
