I m new in SS7 world, I m trying to develop an USSD Gateway
please can you provide advices:
1-how can I find an open source Sigtran stack? (openss7 support sigtran or not?? )
2-the USSD gateway must communicate with which core network equipment ?? HLR or MSC?
3-which sigtran  Protocol I must use to connect the USSD gateway with HLR or MSC

Welcome to telecomspace forum.

Openss7 supposed to support sigtran stack but looks like the development is inactive at the moment.
Please try posting at openss7 mailing list on their site.

HLR

Ideally you need to MAP protocol for the development.
Basically SIGTRAN is the lower level protocol, replaces the MTP1/2/3 layers with IP-based equivalents IP, SCTP, and M3UA as the transport, over which the higher level protocols (SCCP, TCAP, ISUP, and TUP) run, leaving these upper level stacks unchanged. So SCCP/TCAP/MAP are same as SS7 on MTP.
