Hi,

The GSM standards allow the SMS text to be compressed. Do the MSs in GSM domain typically compress the text (apart from encoding the text) while sending the SMS over Air interface? If yes, what are the compression algorithms that are typically used.

Also - I didn't find CDMA standards mentioning anything about SMS compression? Is this mechanism not present in CDMA?
