Hi,

I want to get the location of the mobile. I have the number of the SIM card.
Is "Cell of Origin" (COO) can be useful for the same if yes, then how to get the COO.
Other way I could found was to query HLR for the location of the mobile. If this is the correct solution then, how to query HLR?

Waiting for reply.

Thank you..

Hi

If you want location information based on the Operators infrastructure (eg Cell-ID) then the Operator has access to and control of this information (ie Cell-IDs, cell tower locations and coverage information)

If you want to be independent of the Operator then you can use GPS or better still A-GPS in the handset/device and pass information (GPS assistance data and/or application data) over the User plane. The Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) has a defined protocol for this - Secure User Plane Location (SUPL)

Hope that helps
