SMS Forum Online Discussion http://smsforum.net/smf/index.php <![CDATA[Re: I need help]]> http://smsforum.net/smf/index.php?topic=3537.msg8904#msg8904

Hi:

I am trying to setup a business that offers membership login for members to buy credit to send and receive sms. Currently, i have someone doing the programming for me and will be hosting this on a server soon. One way is to have a physical gsm modem connected to the server but i am also looking at interfacing with an aggregrator. As my volume for a start is not huge, it will not be cost effective to go to the telco, so i think aggregator is my best bet.

The portion that i do not understand is that, do i need to apply for a short code?? or are they alternatives that i can use to still provide the same service as mentioned earlier send/receive? dedicated short code is just too costly.

I also read here comment about clearing house and using special key words, can someone help explain to me on this. Thanks. Huh

<![CDATA[SendRoutingInfo-SM Response question]]> http://smsforum.net/smf/index.php?topic=3542.msg8903#msg8903
Thank you for clarifying the SM-RP-DA question last time. I'm currently building a logic to query the HLR and is now parsing the sRIFSM response. Here's my question:

The sRIFSM response contains the IMSI and the GT (Global Title) address of the receiver's current location. Now I can put the IMSI of the receiver in the SM-RP-DA field and the GT address in the SCCP Called Party Global title field. The problem is how would I know what Destination Point Code (DPC) should I put in the M3UA parameter since I didn't get any Point Code address in the sRIFSM response in the first place? Undecided

Correct me if I'm wrong, will the operator provide me the PC for sending mt-forward and mo-forward SM's (Serving MSC)?

Thanks in advance! Smiley

Do you have Ruby libraries for enabling SMPP bind connections?

Thanks,
