Hi Dinesh and experts,
Thanks for your reply.
I understand that SMSC sends MAP_REPORT_SM_DELIVERY_STATUS, in case MAP_MT_FSM fails so that SMSC gets added to MWD at HLR. This enables SMSC to get a future alert.
I still could not gather why does SMSC need to send MAP_REPORT_SM_DELIVERY_STATUS to HLR, when MAP_MT_FSM succeeds. As per the standards, if MAP_REPORT_SM_DELIVERY_STATUS indicates success, HLR invokes AlertSC procedures. If the mobile were to have been temporarily unreachable earlier and became reachable now, the VMSC/VLR would have any way sent MAP_READY_FOR_SM to HLR, triggering the alert procedures. Why does SMSC need to send MAP_REPORT_SM_DELIVERY_STATUS under Success conditions?
Thanks a lot for your time in clarifying the same.
Regards Nagesh
