Hi,

Does anyone have any practical experience of any SMS dialogues in IS41 that contain MORE that just a TCAP-QUERY containing IS41 SMS operation in TCAP-INVOKE which then results in a TCAP-RESPONSE containing IS41 SMS operation response in a TCAP-RESULT-LAST.

For example, in GSM, the TCAP CONTINUE (ITU equivalent of TCAP CONVERSATION) is used in MT delivery dialogues to delivery multiple DELIVER PDUs where there are "more messages to send" waiting for a susbcriber in the SMSC.

Another GSM scenario that I have noted is where a TCAP-BEGIN containing no component is sent by MSC to SMSC for certain types of MO Forward SM, followed by an "empty" TCAP-CONTINUE from SMSC to MSC, finally followed by TCAP-CONTINUE containing MAP FWD SMS for certain types of messages sent from the handset.

In short, in IS41 is the TCAP-QUERY/RESPONSE the only type of TCAP dialogue that is implemented in practice or are there more complex dialogues similar to the examples that I have outlined for GSM also implemented in IS41?

Thanks,

Liam

Hi Liam

From a standards perspective, the only TCAP Package type allowed for the SMDPP operation is Query with Permission for the invoke, and Response for the return result.

See X.S0004-540-E section 1.3.1
